What are your goals for 2023? Wanna run a marathon? Cut out toxic relationships? Finally finish that DIY project that’s been sitting half done for three months? All noble pursuits, but might we recommend adding a few more bullets to your list.

Here are a few things you can include in your New Year’s resolutions to ensure the New You™️ has their financial life to 👏 ge 👏 ther.

  • Meet with a financial advisor: Some of y’all are full-blown adults who have their financial advisor on speed dial. If that’s you, skip to the next bullet. If not, stop putting it off and set up a meeting with a financial professional now! Not only can they help you rework your savings and investing plans to better fit your goals, they can also help manage your taxes, estate planning, and so much more. The fee they charge for their valuable services will be eclipsed by the money you’ll save once they’ve given you a financial makeover.
  • Cancel subscriptions you no longer use: Yeah, it seems like too much of a hassle to cancel a cheap membership you might use again soon. But month by month, a forgotten subscription can burn a hole in your pocket. 🔥
  • Review your budget: Sit down with yourself, your partner, or whoever you share finances with and look over your budget. Consider both how it actually looks and how you’d like it to look. That way, you can proactively spot and manage areas where expenses may get out of hand.
  • Create a contingency plan: With inflation top of mind, you should have a contingency plan to trim your expenses. What would go first? Your rock climbing membership? Bottomless brunch Sundays? Your skincare essentials? We gotta ask the tough questions, folks.

Through it all, stay focused on the big picture: Where do you want your financial journey to take you? What are the big goals you want to achieve? That’s the big motivator behind all this.—Isabel
